Run with an Australian of the Year
On Wednesday morning I was honoured to be back in the community and running alongside over 100 incredible Tasmanians in a 5 kilometre track along the South Hobart Rivulet.
I was also joined by my colleagues and some phenomenal Australians of the Year for the morning run! 2024 Australian of the Year, Professor Richard Scolyer, 2021 Australian of the Year, Grace Tame, 2020 Tasmanian Local Hero, Tommy Windsor and 2017 Tasmanian Young Australian of the Year, Mitch McPherson were all there.
It was a positive and friendly atmosphere with children and animals also participating in the run. There are many benefits of the run but for me one of the most beautiful aspects was its diversity. People from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and stories, come together through a shared love of running. Because of the diversity there were interesting and friendly conversations during the runs.
The event fosters an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of age, fitness level or running experience.
Tasmania – we are on the right path, let’s keep talking, walking and running together
